Tomato Chutney With a Twist




I usually prepare this Tomato onion chutney with my Masala Bhindi and roti. This recipe goes well with Roti and Khichadi. This chutney is Kunal's ( My Brother ) most favorite dish. Whenever he visits India this chutney is essential part of our regular meal. Every ingredient
that we need for this recipe can be found in your pantry. This recipe is really simple and easy to make. I am sure you will like it.

Ingredients
  • 2 Big Tomatoes Chopped
  • 1 Medium Onion Chopped
  • 1 Teaspoon Chana Dal ( Split gram)
  • 3 Dry Red Chilies 
  • 2 Teaspoon oil
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Onion seeds
  • Salt to taste


Directions:-
  • Soak chana dal for 5 to 10 minutes.

  • Heat a teaspoon of oil in pan.
  • Put chana dal and 2 dry red chilies. Saute till dal turns golden brown. About 30 seconds.


  • Add chopped onion and saute till soft. Add chopped tomatoes and salt. Saute till soft.
  • Let it cool. Grind coarsely in a mixer.
  • Heat the remaining oil in a pan and add onion seeds and dry red chili. Once it splutter add this to chutney.
  • Serve with Roti or Dal and rice.
