Vodka Pasta - Gives you a High

This is my very first post. I love to try new types of recipes. The Vodka pasta is something that I tried today and found it very tasty. The content of vodka is very little in the entire dish but gives the X factor to the dish. I had seen the recipe in http://www.food.com/


Samagri (Ingredients)

  • 1 table spoon extra virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 table spoon butter
  • 2 garlic minced
  • 2 Onions chopped
  • 1/2 cup vodka
  • 1 kg crushed tomoatoes
  • 3 cups pasta such as penne or fusilli
  • 1/2 cup double cream
  • 1 cup vegetable stock
  • 20 basil leaves shredded
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste


Vidhi  - How to Cook

  • Heat a large skillet over moderate heat.Add oil,butter,garlic and onions.
  • Gently saute onions for 2 to 4 min.
  • Add vodka and let it simmer till content becomes half, this process will take appx 2 min
  • Add vegetable stock and tomatoes.Bring sauce to a bubble and reduce heat to simmer.
  • Season with salt and pepper as much as you like.
  • While sauce simmers,cook the pasta till al dente.Drain pasta.
  • Mix cream into sauce.When sauce returns to a bubble,remove it from heat.
  • Toss pasta with hot sauce and basil leaves.
During the process of adding vodka to the pan you may find flames coming out, do not get frightened as I did today.

You can now enjoy the Pasta you have made, do not forget to share it with your loved ones.
